Farm Owner and Managing Director

Jonathan Stuart

Jonathan Jamario Stuart is a Barbadian agribusiness leader who has guided his family’s poultry operation into a modern, growth-oriented enterprise focused on reliable local egg production.

The farm’s roots trace to 2000, when his father, James Stuart, established a small chicken farm in Roach Village, St. George. Growing up on the farm, Jonathan developed a strong work ethic and practical understanding of agricultural production. In 2018, he assumed leadership and drove steady modernization through reinvestment and improved management practices, helping the business evolve into an incorporated agribusiness operating across Roach Village, St. George and Lion Castle, St. Thomas.

In response to shifting demand and recurring egg shortages, Jonathan led the company’s 2024 strategic pivot to focus exclusively on layer production, supporting a more consistent, year round local supply. He continues to advance responsible production practices, with attention to animal welfare, biosecurity, and operational efficiency.

Beyond the farm, Jonathan is an active entrepreneur and investor with interests in agritech and sustainable development, committed to strengthening Barbados’ food security and agricultural transformation.

Our Story

Family Farm, Sustainable Future. Stuart’s Farming is a Barbados based egg producer built on family roots and a clear purpose: supplying fresh, dependable eggs to homes and businesses across the island.

Founded in 2000 by James Stuart, the farm has steadily evolved from a small family venture into a modern, incorporated agribusiness shaped by reinvestment and practical innovation. With operations in Roach Village, St. George and Lion Castle, St. Thomas, Stuart’s Farming has grown with a focus on long-term sustainability and stronger local impact.

In 2018, Jonathan Jamario Stuart assumed leadership and continued the business’s transformation. As national demand shifted and recurring egg shortages highlighted a wider food security gap, Stuart’s Farming made a decisive move in 2024 to concentrate exclusively on layer production, strengthening the ability to provide a more stable, year-round supply of a staple that every Barbadian household recognizes.

Today, the farm is upgrading the Lion Castle site to accommodate 5,000 layers, improving output, efficiency, and consistency. Modernization efforts center on responsible production: better housing and ventilation for bird comfort, tighter biosecurity, reliable feeding and watering systems, and management practices designed to support healthy flocks and steady laying performance.

Stuart’s Farming supplies eggs to local retailers, bakeries, and hospitality partners, while continuing to serve communities that value locally produced food helping to strengthen Barbados’ resilience and food security, one tray at a time.
